Job description, responsibilities and duties

The holder of this role will work within the company's technology team as a Field Service Engineer focusing on supporting internal clients and delivering projects such as validation and refunding kiosks.

The main responsibility will be to ensure that the IT systems infrastructure at branches, reimbursement offices, reimbursement agents and merchants using the company's IT solutions are supported and comply with the company's standards and governance.

The candidate must have a strong IT background, service ethic, good communication skills and a pre-sales attitude as the role is customer facing and dealing with external partners.


People & Relations


The jobholder will work with:

  • Customers (partners, agents, distributors, customs and local UK staff)
  • Colleagues from other technology teams
  • External suppliers and 3rd parties

Functional duties
  • Support the delivery of Refund / Validation Kiosks.
  • Support the delivery of Issuing Solutions implementation projects (including integrations) within scope, time and budget.
  • Ensure global certification standards and governance are met for locally developed Integrated Issuing Solutions.
  • Provide technical support and requirements to implementation partners, corporate product and service owners.
  • Support the commercial team with technical advice
  • Manage the deployment, support, maintenance and decommissioning of corporate IT systems.
  • Support incident and problem resolution locally.
  • Receive, co-ordinate and prioritise all assigned "customer" requests, maintaining a very high level of communication with the company's central team.
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging technologies and concepts within their area of responsibility.

Support and Enhancement Role
  • Prepare specifications, install and test computer systems and peripherals within established guidelines.
  • Initiate and support the purchase order process.
  • Conduct regular reviews of locally deployed technology and reassess usage.
  • Contribute to workflow optimisation and definition of service catalogues.

Requirements for the employee

This person will have not only technical tasks but also some administrative ones - like contacting suppliers, prospecting suppliers, and handling PO processes from A to Z.
He/she should have a good understanding of the Windows Environment, and be able to provide support with mobile phones (iOS and Android).

Profile and Education

  • Relevant IT education, university degree preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Customer service oriented with a hands-on operational attitude
  • High standards of quality, accuracy and risk awareness
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in a multicultural global organisation
  • Independent, goal-oriented and self-motivated personality
  • Organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies and ITIL v3 ITSM best practice guidelines

Specific Skills and Knowledge
  • 3+ years of experience in managing (small but complex) IT projects with external stakeholders or software development projects
  • Solid understanding of point-of-sale related technology and transactional systems
  • Understanding customer needs and translating them into functional requirements
  • Solid understanding of software development projects (especially low-level system interfaces)
  • Ability to quickly analyse situations and identify the right actions to take
  • Experience of working in an international company or organisation is a clear plus
  • Structured yet flexible in dealing with difficult and challenging situations
  • Excellent English language skills (oral & written). German is a strong plus
